Born in Dundee, Scotland, Tanya studied at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. She worked with the Pheonix Dance Company in Leeds before embarking on her solo career. She was nominated as the UK’s ‘Young Contemporary Dancer of the Year’ in 2004. She recently created a dance-based art film (in post-production) with composer/songwriter James Grant based on the classical Japanese kata ‘Meikyo’.
