This is a dance piece I created after seeing the QED documentary entitled John’s Not Mad, about a young man with Tourette Syndrome. In the course of everyday life, John would suddenly burst out with expletives, insults and random obscenities at the most inappropriate moments. He simply couldn’t control the urge to say the wrong thing at the wrong time.
The concept for Tanya’s Not Mad was “dancer’s tourettes” – trying to deal with daily life, interrupted by ‘bad dancing’. I wrote, choreographed and directed the film, but still managed to be surprised when people said they saw a bit of Buster Keaton in the performance! I hope you enjoy the film.

Ants in your pants.
It’s a bit of a shock how people on the German market (?) are oblivious to your shaky jerky demeanour, even though you’re passing through them.
